"Major" is a one of a kind, rare find. I wouldn't be selling him if it weren't for my family medical situation. I've
put this off for a couple of years. I just don't need a schoolmaster at this point in my career but he's such a nice horse and has a lot of time left, so he really
needs to go to a home where he can be more useful.
He has old tendon injuries to the superficial flexor tendon of both front legs. They are at least 5 yrs old, there's some scar tissue that will always be there. I
had him looked at by a vet about 6 months ago. He said he will always have a slight shortening of his stride with one front leg due to the scar tissue. He said he could
be shown at the lower levels but this will really show up at the higher levels so I would prefer he wasn't campaigned. I understand limited showing but please don't try to buy him
if you're looking to go Young Riders or go get your Gold Medal, things like that. He would be excellent to teach someone to do those things and train another horse though. He's
always been healthy and never been sore due to tendons. He has, however, had a tendency to get Thrush and has gotten foot sore from it before. It always comes back, I've never had this with any other horses.
I've found that keeping the cleft of his frog packed with cotton and Povidone Iodine except when riding keeps it totally under control. I only do this when it's muddy in his turnout or he's starting to get it. He's not shod, he
doesn't require maintenance whatsoever.
I want to find him a situation with a good future. Obviously I don't think it's right to ask someone to never sell him because things do happen in our lives that are out of our control.
However finding someone with a desire to do what's best for Major is a high priority for me. His previous owner did the same with me so I owe her that, too.
He's very easy to ride and honestly does every single Grand Prix move quite well. He never anticipates or does anything that wasn't asked for by the rider. He never does anything scary, he really likes to work. I haven't ridden him
that much since this illness thing has been going on since 10/04. But when I've ridden him I've mostly only done the basics, I don't spend a lot of time working on the tricks (well that's true with any horse). But
he can certainly do them so I felt I should show a good selection of them in the videos. The clips with Tempi Ones and Twos AND Piaffe and Passage show the first time I asked him for them during the whole time I've had him (3yrs)! I've provided three clips now and they're very short since I know I'll go over my bandwidth quickly if everyone looks at the longer clips.
So please look at these and if you think you really like him and want to see more, contact me for longer clips that will have tempis to "2s" and "1s". Also more piaffe and passage, and normal canter and normal trot. The clips I have available for you to see from my
website are piaffe, piaffe-passage and Passage, and canter "3s". Major is priced at $13,000. If you're going to call me, please only call between 9am and 9pm Central Time. I tend to be easier to catch in the morning. Email is always great, probably my favorite method of communication...
